Unbundled HBO on PlayStation Vue

HBO and sister network Cinemax will be available as $15/month standalone channels on PlayStation Vue by October 2. This marks the first time either network’s flagship channel will be available to viewers without the need to buy a pay TV “bundle subscription,” HBO said.

Playstation Vue also offers HBO competitor Showtime as a standalone for $10.99/month.

HBO said its launch on PlayStation Vue is geared towards the October 2 premiere of its “highly anticipated” Westworld, a new sci-fi drama. Viewers who subscribe to HBO on PlayStation Vue through PS3 or PS4 devices will also gain free access to the on-demand streaming service HBO Now, which will otherwise be available standalone for $15/month.

PlayStation Vue is also available via such devices as Roku, Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV.
