OZY Debuts ‘The Contenders’

OZY, a news site that claims 20 million monthly unique users, has debuted its first TV project – an eight-part documentary series looking at 14 historic U.S. presidential – and two vice-presidential — campaigns over the past 50 years.

Called The Contenders – 16 for 16, each episode debuts Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on OZY.com and on PBS (but the day/time may vary on local stations). If you miss it, don’t despair – it will still be available for streaming at OZY, starting with episode one, which focuses on The Straight Talkers (Shirley Chisholm, John McCain) and premiered last night, September 13.

Upcoming hours will document The Flamethrowers (Pat Buchanan, Howard Dean), The Technocrats (Michael Dukakis, Mitt Romney), The Visionaries (Gary Hart, Jesse Jackson), The Conservatives (Ronald Reagan, Barry Goldwater), The Independents (Ross Perot, Ralph Nader), The Trailblazers (Geraldine Ferraro, Sarah Palin) and The Master Strategists (George W. Bush, Barack Obama).
