Redford and Fonda Reteam on Netflix

Redford and Fonda may never rival Tracy and Hepburn, Astaire and Rogers or Bogie and Bacall as one of cinema’s greatest couples. But they can’t be beaten in the longevity department. Nearly 40 years after The Electric Horseman (1979) and 50 years after Barefoot in the Park (1967), the two are at it again – this time in a made-for-Netflix movie Our Souls at Night.

Filming starts today on the drama, also starring Bruce Dern and Judy Greer, which is based on a novel by Kent Haruf and directed by Ritesh Batra (The Lunchbox).

Our Souls at Night will premiere on Netflix next year. In the meantime, if you want to catch those earlier Robert Redford/Jane Fonda couplings, Barefoot in the Park is available for $2.99 from Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, YouTube and other sources. For The Electric Horseman, you’ll need to get the DVD to watch the whole film, but here’s a trailer:
