Netflix: From Greenie Puppets to Wrestling Women

  • Puppets and Julie Andrews
  • Female wrestlers in spandex

Where would you find such things in the same place? On Netflix, of course!

Here are the streaming service’s latest original programming developments:

  • Coming in 2017, Julie’s Greenroom will be a series for pre-schoolers conceived by and starring “Mary Poppins” herself Julie Andrews, with a cast of puppet kits called The Greenies, and produced by The Jim Henson Company. In 13 half-hours, The Greenies will learn all about the performing arts from an array of guest stars like Alec Baldwin, Sara Bareilles, Joshua Bell, Carol Burnett, Josh Groban, Idina Menzel, and Stomp.
  • First reported by Season Zero, GLOW will tell the story of female wrestlers starring in a 1980s TV series. It’s based on a recent documentary about a real-life TV series of the same name that ran in the ’80s, and being created by Orange is the New Black showrunner Jenji Kohan. GLOW, btw, is short for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. You can catch episodes of the original series for free here.
