NHK Adds Orlando

NHK World, Japan’s English-language news and lifestyle network, is now available over-the-air in Orlando, FL, on channel 24.4. The channel is also available free online; via iOS, Android and Amazon Fire apps; and over-the-air in 10 other markets (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Washington DC, Seattle, Denver, Charlotte, Baltimore).

In addition to hourly newscasts, NHK World shows include Tokyo Eye 2020, setting the stage for the next Summer Olympics, and Journeys in Japan, which explores the country’s regional cultures and lifestyles. Here’s an episode of Tokyo Eye 2020:

Tokyo Eye 2020 airs Tuesdays at 7:30 pm ET and Wednesdays at 1:30 am, 8:30 am and 1:30 pm. Journeys in Japan airs Mondays at 7:30 pm and Tuesdays at 1:30 am, 8:30 am and 1:30 pm. Check out a rundown of all programs and the current schedule at the NHK World English website.

To find your local over-the-air station (or cable channel), go to NHK World’s “How to Watch” page, choose “Americas” in the “Select Area” pull-down menu, and then “USA” under “Select Country/Region.”
